How To Cook Our Seafood

Karns is proud to provide a large variety of great seafood, including shrimp, mussels, salmon & more! In order to make the journey from store to plate simpler, here's a quick guide on how to cook up our favorite seafood dishes.

Quick & Easy Catches

  • 2 lb. Live Prince Edward Island Mussels
    • Sauté shallots and/or garlic with oil or butter
    • Add mussels with white wine or beer (add a dash of red pepper, parsley, thyme or lemon juice)
    • Cover and steam on medium-high heat until mussels open (approx. 5 minutes)
  • Specialty Crusted Tilapia Fillets (Coconut, Parmesan, Pecan and Garlic)
    – sold frozen
    • Preheat oven to 375° F Place frozen fillet on lightly greased baking sheet – cook 28-30 minutes
  • Gourmet Salmon Burgers – sold frozen
    • Preheat oven to 400° F Place frozen burger on lightly greased baking sheet – cook 9-10 minutes on each side
    • Enjoy with a sriracha aioli or teriyaki sauce

Premium Fillets

  • Fresh Faroe Island Salmon Fillets
    • Preheat oven to 450° F. Place salmon on non-stick baking sheet. Season with salt and pepper
    • Drizzle with maple syrup, honey, orange juice or mustard for a quick shot of flavor
    • Bake 12-15 minutes until internal temp of 165
  • Barramundi Fillets – sold frozen
    • Preheat oven to 425° F. Run frozen fillets under water briefly. Place on lightly greased baking sheet.
    • Mix salt, pepper, olive oil and paprika in a separate bowl. Coat fillets with mixture.
    • Broil for 8 minutes.
    • Top with a fruit salsa – try Willy's Just Peachy Salsa available in the produce department.
  • Premium Ahi Tuna Steaks – sold frozen
    • Defrost tuna prior to cooking
    • Marinate tuna in soy sauce, olive oil, salt, pepper and a pinch of cayenne pepper
    • Heat skillet o medium high. Sear tuna for 3 minutes per side for medium doneness.
    • Thinly slice and serve over salad greens with your favorite Asian-style dressing.
